Hu LiXun

Born in China Wuhan of Hubei province, (中国湖北省武汉市),LiXun completed her professional degree in Finance from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (中南财经政法大学). In 2007 she moved to Singapore and was offered Singapore Permanent Residency shortly after. She soon settled down and decided to take up Singapore citizenship when it was offered to her in 2010. It was LiXun’s strong passion towards Chinese culture and literature that caused her to move to Singapore and make the major switch into Chinese studies and education. In her own words, she came to Singapore “to refocus and develop in education area of specialization”.



Language Proficiency With International Exposure



Upon graduation from Zhongnan University, LiXun worked for more than 5 years with People’s Bank of China where she acquired international experiences and skills in English writing and speaking. She was often commended for excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and was known by her colleagues as a strong motivator and promoter of team play.


Within her few short years in Singapore, LiXun attended several courses and was able to make remarkable academic achievements with excellent performance. She started with International English Language Testing System (IELTS) conducted by Singapore British Council and obtained outstanding results. She also achieved high scores in Workplace Literacy and Numeracy tests conducted by the Centre for Employability Skills in Singapore. More importantly she completed a series of Post Graduate courses in Confucius Institute, Singapore.

Academic Pursuits In Confucius Institute

LiXun enrolled with Confucius Institute, Nanyang Technological University in 2008/2009 to pursue her further education in Teaching Chinese Language. During the same period she obtained Chinese Core Syllabus Teacher’s Qualification Certificate from Quick Chinese Global Education and Training Centre. She was also awarded International Chinese Language Teacher Training Qualification Certificate from Shandong University.


In her year LiXun became one of the best students in Confucius Institute in academic performance. She attained excellent achievements in several subjects, including Modern Hanyu, Comparative Linguistics and Pandect on Chinese Literature.

A Passionate Chinese Educator



Beyond her study, LiXun is a strong team worker and motivator with fellow students. She took initiatives to organize group revision for examinations, help in research works and share her knowledge with fellow students. She even documents the course progress and became the lead producer of the Graduation CD for the graduating cohort. Her strong interpersonal skills made her the ideal candidate for the student speech at her graduation at Confucius Institute.


In Nov 2008, LiXun was among the few top candidates selected by Confucius Institute to teach “5000 years of Chinese Civilization” in several primary schools, such as Tao Nan Primary and Fairfield Methodist Primary. Her strong foundation in Chinese Literature, coupled with her style of creative and interactive teaching, the primary school students found the course easy to comprehend. Her excellent working attitude and the promotion of team spirit among the students was well appreciated by all the students.
