International Involvements
While studying in Canadian Theological Seminary in 1990, Christina was elected Chairman of International Student Association. With her strong contact with students from different parts of the world, the student body was able to host several multi-cultural activities. Under her leadership, voluntary works in the neighbouring countries were also initiated to bring awareness among international students of the needy. Through these involvements, Christina established strong friendship with many of the international students, especially those from China and Hong Kong. Today Christina has a wide network of international friends
Professional Language Teaching
In 2006 Christina worked as a language teacher in an education institution. With her years of international experience and exposure, she was able to identify with students quickly and help them integrate physically, emotionally and socially into the learning environment. It was exceedingly rewarding to see students progress from “English illiteracy” to “English competency”. It was both a joy and satisfaction to witness the building up of self-confidence in a person through language proficiency.
Professional Qualifications
In order to advance her teaching skills, Christina pursued Diploma in TESOL (Teachers of English to Students of Other Languages) and was able to see remarkable improvements among her students. Christina founded SHALOM Adult English Learning Centre in 2008 with the purpose of providing a conducive and more focus environment for her English learners. With her learning centre, Christina is now able to help more people to learn to speak English. Some of Christina’s students have this to say:
